Rev. Dr. Winford James Thompson

 

Rev. Dr. Winford James Thompson was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina and was educated in the public schools of New York and Orangeburg, S.C. He spent the first early years of his life at “Grandma’s Hands” in Harlem, New York. Early in his life he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior and was baptized by the late Rev. Dr. H.T. Williams of the St. Paul Baptist Church in Orangeburg. He was licensed to preach the gospel at St. Paul Baptist Church in 1981. He later joined the Brookland Baptist Church of West Columbia, SC, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Charles B. Jackson. He was ordained by Gethsemane Baptist Association through the recommendation of the Brookland Baptist Church. He was consecrated Bishop by the International Overcomers Pentecostal Churches under the leadership of Arch-Bishop Leroy Williams.

Dr. Thompson is the Founder and Presiding Bishop of the National Body of Christ Ministries with a network of ministries world-wide. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia where he was ordained a Deacon and tutored by Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr., affectionally known as, “Daddy King”. He transferred to Benedict College in Columbia, SC, where he served as Student Pastor of the Antisdel Chapel. Family reasons brought him home to his first love, Claflin University in Orangeburg, SC. He received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Trinity Southern in Plano, Texas and his Master’s Degree in Marriage Counseling from International Overcoming College of Religion in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Thompson also received a Master’s Degree from School of the Great Commission Bible College and an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from James Dussalt University in Orlando, Florida. Under the Triune Professional Association he is certified as a Chemical Dependency Counselor, Crisis Intervention Counselor and Christian Counselor.

Bishop Thompson is the Founder and Chancellor of the School of the Great Commission Bible College, Georgia Bible Institute and International Bible Institute. He also directs the BOCM Career Training Academy. This awesome Man of God has pastored two wonderful Baptist Churches; Hall Hill Missionary Baptist Church and the Friendship Baptist Church. He is an innovative teacher and Anointed Planter of Ministries. He is Founder and President of Creating Solutions Consulting Group and a Certified Grant Writer with over five million dollars of approved/funded grants to his credit for various Non-Profit Organizations. He is a published author of several books and manuals with his latest works, “Hey, You Heard What Mama Said” to be published within the month of August 2014.
